Genes

Considering genes, I always work with the "standard" mouse breeder genes, consisting of the five main color loci (A, B, C, D, P), and then the hair structures and markings. I do not work with the full mouse genetics, as it is too much work to research all the genes, as well as that not many are influencing how a mouse looks or acts.

The list on the right of this shows most mouse gene codes for colors, markings and hair structures. A * means it is an unknown gene, but can be either dominant or recessive. the / between letters divides the chromosoms, i.e. b/b means 1 chromosome contains b, the other one as well. B/b means one chromosome contains B and the other one b. Notice that where a * is placed, not every single loci gene can be put. A self agouti mouse with A/* will never have AY or aT on the place of the * (as both AY and aT would show).
